CPD: Pre-Trial Therapy

10am to 4pm

Saturday, 11th March 2023

In-person – maximum of 10 participants.


This CPD is for you if you would like to feel more confident and competent when working with clients who are navigating the criminal justice system.


What you will gain:

  • Awareness of the requirements of the recently revised CPS Pre-Trial Therapy Guidance

  • Knowledge and understanding of the criminal justice process

  • Understanding of how to ensure clients are fully informed of the implications of their work with you

  • Knowledge of how to handle requests from the police for therapy records

  • Understanding of general principles around good note keeping and any additional requirements when a client reports sexual abuse or violence to the police

  • Confidence that you can support victims through the legal process

  • Answers to any questions you may have about pre-trial therapy.


Who is this CPD for:

Anyone who works with, or might work with, domestic abuse or sexual violence:

  • Supervisor – do any of your supervisees work with victim-survivors?

  • Qualified therapist – are you working with, or likely to work with, victim-survivors?

  • Trainee counsellor – would you like to be prepared to work with victim-survivors?


What else you need to know:

  • Fee: £75 (payable in advance)

  • You will receive a CPD certificate

  • Light refreshments will be available, but to accommodate intolerances, allergies and preferences, please bring along your own lunch.
